In 2016, I began volunteering with Will Marcy of the Shelterless Ministry (through Kenmore Alliance Church). This small group ministers to the homeless in the downtown Buffalo area on a regular basis (about three times per week) by providing food, water, clothing, toiletries and other necessities. The ministry began in 2012, and later that year, Will was approached by representatives at The Matt Urban Center, who recognized the trust he had established within the community. They asked Will if he would encourage people to trust the services that Matt Urban and other agencies could provide. Since then, Will and his team have worked with Matt Urban, local shelters and other agencies of the WNY Homeless Coalition. Will is credited for connecting hundreds of the unsheltered homeless with services and housing through this coordinated effort.
